A woman was found dead at her house at the Patharghata upazila of Barguna early today.

The deceased was identified as Jesmin Sultana (28), wife of Abul Bashar Khan (32) in Gorjanbunia village of Barguna Sadar upazila, reports our Patuakhali correspondent quoting Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of Patharghata Police Station.

"Abul Bashar Khan told me over the phone that Jesmin died by suicide," Jesmin's cousin Raju Mia said.

"Soon after the call, Bashar along with Jasmine's gold ornaments went into hiding before her family members could reach their house," said Raju.

The victim's mother Momotaz Begum alleged that her daughter had a longstanding feud with Abul Bashar.

"Abul Bashar strangled Jesmin to death with a rope around 2 am today and a local named Mustafa helped him to kill her," added the victim's mother.

On information, a police team recovered the body and sent it to Barguna General Hospital morgue for autopsy," said the Patharghata OC.

The family filed a murder case against the victim's husband and Mustofa at the police station, said the police official, adding that police started an investigation into the incident.
