Village cop stabbed to death in Narail
A village police was stabbed to death by miscreants in a village at Lohagara upazila of Narail today.
The deceased, Bakul Sheikh, 36, was son of Badir Sheikh of Kumdi village in the upazila, our Benapole correspondent reports quoting Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station.
Relatives of the deceased and locals said Bakul was coming to his home from Kumdi Purbapara shop around this noon.
When he reached near the house of one Golap Khar in Purbapara, a group of miscreants stabbed him with sharp weapons and dumped him in a pond there.
Hearing his screams, villagers rescued him and took him to the Lohagarh Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead, they said.
Doctor Subrata, in-charge of the emergency department of the health complex, said Bakul died before he was brought to the hospital.
The deceased's son Zakir Hossain Sheikh alleged that his father was killed by their rivals over past enmity.
OC Nasir Uddin said the body was sent to Narail Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Those involved in the murder will be brought to justice, he added.
