Ukhiya camp: Rohingya volunteer hacked to death
A day after a Rohingya man was shot dead, another was hacked to death in a camp in Cox's Bazar Ukhiya early yesterday.
The victim was Mohammad Ershad, 22, of I-Block of Kutupalong Extended-4 Rohingya camp, said Sheikh Mohammad Ali, officer-in-charge of Ukhiya Police Station.
Criminals attacked Ershad, a volunteer, when he and some others were guarding the extension of camp-4, said the OC, adding that they hacked him indiscriminately and left the place.
On information, Armed Police Battalion members took Ershad to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead, the police official said.
"The body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy," he added.
On Wednesday, 35-year-old Jafar, who used to work as a volunteer in guarding the camp, was murdered in another camp in Ukhiya.
With the two, four Rohingya volunteers and two leaders have been killed in the camps in the last three months.
