Two killed in daring train robbery
Two passengers died and another was injured after a 'gang of robbers' stabbed them on the roof of a commuter train in Mymensingh's Gafargaon upazila last night.
The deceased were male, but their identities could not be known immediately, Sohel Rana, officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Station, told this correspondent.
Another passenger, Rubel, sustained stab wounds and received primary treatment at a hospital in Jamalpur's Dewanganj upazila, the OC said.
Quoting Rubel, OC Sohel Rana said when the Dewanganj-bound commuter train reached near Gafargaon from Dhaka around 8:30pm, a gang of robbers stabbed the three passengers on the roof of the train and fled with their valuables.
The robbers had been on the roof for some time and posed as passengers, the OC said.
The bodies of the two victims were recovered after the train reached Dewanganj and were kept at the morgue of the hospital, added the OC.
