Tk 6cr worth of crystal meth seized in Teknaf, 2 arrested
Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh early today (July 29, 2022) detained two alleged drug smugglers and seized 1.063kg crystal meth worth Tk 6 crore from them in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar.
Besides, 20,000 pieces of yaba pills, 15 kg of current nets and a boat were also seized during the drive, reports our Cox's Bazar staff correspondent quoting Lt Col Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2.
The arrestees are Md Riaz Uddin (20) and Saddam Hossain (19) of Rangikhali area of Hinla Union in Teknaf.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB patrol team carried out the operation on the bank of Naf River in Hilna Project and took a position there. After a while, when two men, who crossed the zero line from Myanmar with a wooden boat, the patrol team challenged them, said the BGB CO.
The patrol team chased the alleged smugglers and finally detained them as they tried to escape by jumping into the river from the boat, he said.
According to their confessions, 1 kg and 63 grams of crystal meth ice and 20,000 yaba pills were recovered from under the boat's plot, added the BGB official.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed against the duo at Teknaf Model Police Station, said Lt Col Khalid.
