Tk 5cr worth crystal meth seized, 1 arrested in Cox's Bazar

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) yesterday arrested a man with 1kg of crystal methamphetamine worth Tk 5 crore at Teknaf of Cox's Bazar.
The arrestee Md Rafiq Mia (37) is a resident of Noyapara Jeleghat village in the upazila, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting Teknaf BGB-2 Commanding Officer Lt Col Sheikh Khalid Md Iftekhair.
"After receiving information that a large shipment of crystal meth would be smuggled from Myanmar through Jaliardwip area, a team of BGB took position and saw a boat coming to Bangladesh after crossing the zero line from Myanmar side," said the BGB CO.
"When the boat was asked to stop, most of the drug smugglers except one jumped off in the river and managed to flee," said the BGB official.
The border troops arrested the alleged smuggler and searched the boat and found the crystal meth wrapped in a plastic bag, he said
A case was filed with Teknaf Model Police Station regarding the matter.
Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman said the arrestee was sent to jail through a court today.
