Teenager arrested for attempted rape of speech-impaired girl in Dhaka

Police arrested a teenage boy on charge of attempted rape of a 13-year-old speech impaired girl in Dhaka's Shewra area last night.

The victim, a homeless teen, was admitted to the one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Some locals, including a grocer, caught the 16-year-old boy as he tried to rape the girl near rail gate area around 11:45pm. He was later handed over to police, Rafiqul Islam, inspector (investigation) of Bhatara Police Station, said.

The grocer filed a case against the boy in this connection, he added.
