6 men rape teen in Thakurgaon

A 10-grader was abducted and raped by six men in Thakurgaon on Friday.

Locals found the 16-year-old girl lying unconscious by the side of a road with her mouth gagged with a strip of cloth in Sreekristapur area around midnight and called the police. 

Police later took her to a hospital.

Rokibul Alam, a resident medical officer of the hospital, said it seemed that the girl was raped and she was traumatised.

The victim told The Daily Star that the incident happened while she was travelling in a three wheeler to Thakurgaon town from her village in Baliadangi upazila.

She got on the vehicle after 1:00pm and there were six men in it, she added.

While on the road, the men pointed a knife at her and asked her to keep quiet. The vehicle soon stopped in front of a house where the men forced her to enter.

The men then gagged her with a strip of cloth and raped her, she said, adding that she recognised three of the men named Bablu, Taleb and Aslam who are from her village.

She added that she lost consciousness at one point.

Her mother said she was going to the town to see her father. 

Contacted, Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon Police Station, said the victim was asked to file a case with Baliadangi Police Station.

However, Khairul Anam, officer-in-charge of Baliadangi Police Station, said he was yet to formally receive any complaint.
