An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology was allegedly beaten up by a group of his fellow organisation members on Monday night.
According to campus sources, Fardin Ahmed, a fourth-year student, confronted a group of BCL leaders after they were seen harassing his friend and another female student on campus.
Fardin and some of his friends were beaten up badly allegedly by Sazzadur Rahman, a follower of Sajibur Rahman, former joint secretary of the university unit BCL, after he returned to Shahporan Hall (his dorm) around 10:00pm.
Contacted, Sajibur said the juniors had an altercation but the matter was settled by senior BCL members.
Sazzad and Dr Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Khan, the provost of the hall, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
