Suspected Indian national arrested from Padma Bridge area
A man was arrested while trying to enter the restricted area of Padma Bridge in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj.
The arrestee was identified as Upendra Bihari (45), reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting Mohammad Masudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Louhajang Police Station.
Members of Bangladesh Army held him when he tried to enter the construction yard at the Mawa end of Padma Bridge through an army check post and handed him over to Louhajang Police Station, the OC added.
The arrestee was thought to be an Indian national as he spoke in Hindi, the OC said, adding that he could not give satisfactory answers to various queries of police.
Police produced him before a court yesterday seeking a 10-day remand prayer while the court fixed Thursday for the hearing, said sources.
A case has been filed against him under the Control Entry Act for entering the country without passport.
