Suspected drug dealer snatched from DB, 5 injured

Five people, including three Detective Branch of police members, were injured after a group of people launched an attack on law enforcers and snatched away a suspected drug trader from them at Ashulia last night.

The three injured policemen are Sub-Inspector Shahadat and constables Shawkat and Hafiz of the detective branch (North) of Dhaka District police.

The other injured are police informants.

Riaz Uddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of the DB unit, said a team of detectives carried out a raid at a house in Buribazar area around 11:00pm yesterday and detained two people along with 520 litres of local liquor.

At that time, around 15 people attacked the DB officers and snatched away one of the detainees, he said.

Two cases have been filed with Ashulia Police Station in this regard and so far 11 people have been arrested, the DB official said.
