Student slaps teacher: Accused's bail denied
A Chuadanga court today denied bail to a student accused of slapping a teacher yesterday.
Judge Musrat Jerin of the Chuadanga Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal denied the bail and ordered him to be sent to Child Development Center around 2:00pm, our Chuadanga correspondent reports quoting advocate Abu Taleb Biswas, Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP).
He was later taken to Jashore Child Development Center at around 5:00pm.
Abu Taleb Biswas said, "The student's lawyer appealed for bail today in the case of beating the teacher. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court rejected the bail application."
On Sunday, when a tenth grade examination was going on at Chuadanga Victoria Jubilee Government High School, teacher Hafizor Rahman took away the exam paper of a student for looking at another student's exam paper.
This led to an argument between the teacher and the student, and at one stage, the student slapped the teacher.
Last night, the CCTV camera footage of the incident went viral on social media.
Sikh Safiar Rahman, the headmaster of the school, filed a case with the Chuadanga Sadar Police Station yesterday.
Meanwhile, a three-member investigation committee has been formed by the district administration.
The investigation report is expected to be submitted within three working days.
