‘Strict lockdown’: Chief Justice forms 3 High Court benches for virtual hearing urgent cases

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain constituted three High Court benches today for virtual hearing and disposing of urgent cases during the ongoing lockdown.
The three judges who will conduct the HC benches are Justice M Enayetur Rahim, Justice JBM Hassan, and Justice KM Kamrul Kader.
The HC benches will run judicial functions every working day from July 25 to August 5 using information technology, according to a notification issued by the chief justice today.
Besides, the chief justice also assigned Justice Obaidul Hassan, a judge of the Appellate Division, to virtually hold hearings and dispose of urgent cases as the apex court vacation judge till July 31.
Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar issued a notification to this effect today.
Yesterday, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain decided to run judicial functions of the High Court on a limited scale to deal with extremely urgent cases till August 5 due to the ongoing lockdown enforced by the government to curb Covid-19 infections.
