Smuggled goods worth Tk 71 lakh seized from train in Benapole
Customs officials today seized smuggled goods worth Tk 71 lakh during a raid on the Khulna-bound Bandhan Express train coming from India, customs officials said.
Abdur Rashid Miah, joint commissioner of Benapole Customs House, said a team of customs conducted the drive after receiving a tip-off that goods were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh by the train, reports our Benapole correspondent.
The seized goods include foreign cigarettes, liquor, sari, three-piece and various types of cosmetics.
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh and police personnel assisted the customs during the operation.
