SI stabbed in Dhaka’s Gulistan

A sub-inspector of Shahbag Police Station was stabbed in Dhaka's Gulistan tonight.
The injured SI Jahangir Hossain (48) is now receiving treatment at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The incident occurred at a place at Gulistan footpath, adjacent to T&T office.
The injured SI said that he went to Dhaka Judge Court related to a case.
"I was walking towards police headquarters after crossing the road near T&T office. All of a sudden, a youth stabbed me and fled the scene," he said.
Pedestrian Abu Sayed Hasan, who took the SI to DMCH, said he was some metres away from the SI when he was stabbed.
"I understood what happened when the criminal was fleeing after stabbing the SI," he said.
The age of the youth would be around 20, the pedestrian said, adding that he just wore a lungi.
Inspector Md Bacchu Miah, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said an injury mark was found at the back of the SI.
He is now receiving treatment at the emergency department of DMCH, added the inspector.
Sheikh Mohammad Kamruzzaman, inspector (operation) of Shahbag Police Station said a police team rushed to spot and are working to arrest the criminal. The motive of stabbing the SI will be known once the arrest is made.
