Schoolgirl raped in Cox’s Bazar
A schoolgirl in Cox's Bazar has been raped allegedly by two Rohingya youths in the district town.
Six days after the incident, the victim's mother filed a case with Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station on Tuesday, said police.
The victim, a student of grade-III, was gang-raped by Kefayet Ullah, 20, and Imran, 19, of the district's Muhuripara area, read the case statement.
Bipul Chandra De, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the police station, said the accused were on the run but the law enforcers trying to arrest them within the shortest possible time.
According to the case statement, the victim was first abducted from the town on December 1. The duo picked her up as she went out of her home to buy food in the evening.
They then took her to a nearby abandoned shanti and gang-raped her.
Hearing her screaming, locals rushed to the spot, forcing the culprits to flee the scene. Locals rushed the victim to Cox's Bazar General Hospital.
She was released the next day with a letter that mentioned that she was sexually assaulted.
The plaintiff alleged that locally influential people pressurised the victim's family not to file the case.
