Schoolgirl abducted from Lalmonirhat rescued in Kushtia, 1 arrested
Police have rescued a schoolgirl at Bheramara of Kushtia who was abducted from Durakuti village of Mogholhat union in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila on March 30.
Meanwhile, the alleged abductor Shakil Mandal (24), son of Majibar Mandal of Chilmari area of Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia, was arrested, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent quoting Shaha Alam, officer in-charge (OC) of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station.
The accused is a furniture trader by profession. They were brought to Lalmonirhat police facility tonight.
According to police, Shakil was running his business renting a house at Durakuti Purbapara village of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila.
On March 30, a sixth grader schoolgirl was abducted from the village.
Following the abduction, the victim's father filed an abduction case at Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station.
The man also threatened the father of the schoolgirl over the phone, said police.
Police tracked down the abductor's mobile number, arrested him and rescued the schoolgirl from a house in Bheramara based on the information extracted from him.
Later, OC Shah Alam took prompt action, rescued the schoolgirl and arrested the abductor.
OC Shah Alam said the schoolgirl was rescued with the help of Kushtia police.
The medical examination of the schoolgirl will be conducted tomorrow (April 3), he said, adding that action would be taken as per court order after recording her statement in the court.
The accused abductor will be produced before the court tomorrow, the OC said.
