Rohingya man arrested for killing wife in Cox’s Bazar
Armed Police Battalion (APBn) members today arrested a man for strangling his wife to death in a Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar.
The arrestee Md Zafar (40) is a resident of No 26 Rohingya camp in Jadimura Shalbagan of Teknaf.
Confirming the arrest, APBn Commander (Superintendent of Police) Md Tariqul Islam said Zafar fled the scene after murdering his wife, Mobarajan (34), while she was asleep around 1:30am.
The APBn members, conducting a raid, arrested Zafar from a nearby Rohingya camp at Nayapara.
He murdered his wife over family dispute, the official said quoting the case statement.
The arrestee was handed over to a local police station this afternoon, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.
Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Hafizur Rahman said that a murder case has been filed against him and when produced before a magistrate, the court sent him to jail.
The body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.
According to their relatives, the couple had four children, including a six-month old baby.
