Rohingya ‘criminal’ killed in ‘gunfight’ in Cox’s Bazar
A suspected Rohingya criminal was killed in a "gunfight" with Armed Police Battalion (APBn) at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar yesterday.
APBn members arrested two suspects with firearms after the "gunfight" at camp-17, said additional deputy commissioner Syed Harun -ur- Rashid commander of 14 APBn.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, he told our Cox's Bazar staff correspondent.
The arrestees Mamun Rashid, 32 and Abdur Rahman, 28, of the same camp, are members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), the additional DIG claimed.
APBn members conducted a raid on a tip off, said the police official.
Sensing their presence, the criminal opened fire on law enforcers forcing them to retaliate with gunfire, he said.
A suspect was shot dead while two others were arrested with two locally made firearms, he added.
