Rape, murder of 7yr-old: One arrested in Ctg

Police today (October 28, 2022) arrested a man on charges of rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl in Chattogram.

The girl, a class one student, had been missing for three days before her body was found in a drain in Chattogram city yesterday (October 27, 2022) evening, reports our staff correspondent quoting police.

The arrestee, Lakhsman is a staff of a local grocery shop in Jamal Khan area and used to stalk the girl, said Jahidul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

According to police, on October 24, he took the girl at the warehouse behind the shop and tried to rape her. At one stage, the accused strangled her to death and later put the body in a sack and dumped it in a drain near Sikdar Hotel of Jamal Khan area, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports.

The victim went missing on October 24 after leaving her house to go to a local shop.

The arrestee admitted to his crime during primary interrogation and told police details of the murder, the OC said.
