Rab arrests 31 muggers

Rab yesterday claimed to have arrested 31 members of organised mugging gangs from different parts of the capital.

A team of Rab-3 conducted drives in Motijheel, Shahbagh, Sabujbagh, Paltan, Jatrabari and Bangshal on Thursday night and made the arrests.

It also seized several sharp weapons, mobile phones and Tk 27,073 from the arrestees, said a Rab press release.

Rab-3 Commanding Officer Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed said in primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they used to target people at bus and launch terminals and rail stations.

He said the criminals snatched valuables from pedestrians, rickshaw and CNG-run auto rickshaw passengers at knifepoint, adding that they would continue the drive.
