Pre-polls violence in Pabna: Injured man dies at RMCH
The man who was injured in a factional clash between two rival candidates of Vaina union parishad election in Pabna's Sujanagar upazila succumbed to injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital last night.
The deceased Md Sobuz Hossain (28), son of Hasen Ali, resident of Chalna village of the union, was a supporter of Awami League rebel candidate Omar Faruk, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting Md Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sujanagar Police Station.
While talking with The Daily Star, Md Omar Faruk said Sobuz was injured when AL-backed candidate Amin Uddin's supporters attacked Faruk's poll campaign at Hemrajpur area of Vaina union on Monday night.
Critically injured, Sabuz was shifted to RMCH last morning where he succumbed to his injuries at about 10pm.
Earlier on Monday, Amin Uddin and Omar Faruk locked in a clash at Hemrazpur village of Vaina union at about 11.30pm leaving five people, including Sobuz, injured.
Victim's brother filed a case naming 15 persons and unnamed 50 others in connection with the death, OC Mizanur Rahman said.
Earlier, two separate cases were filed in connection with the clash.
