Police official attacked in Pabna; 3 arrested

Three suspected drug peddlers have been arrested in a case filed for their alleged involvement in attacking a police official during his investigation in Pabna's Sadar upazila.

The arrestees are Md Sohel Rana (32) of Bangabariya village, Shariful Islam (42) of Dapunia village and Hasem Ali (52) of Vajpara village.

A police team arrested the trio last night after raiding in Hemayetpur area, said Md Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station.

They were sent to jail by a court today, the OC told our Pabna correspondent.

Earlier, Sohel along with a group of suspected drug peddlers suddenly attacked Md Shahidullah, sub-inspector of Hemayetpur Police camp, near Hemayetpur area yesterday evening during an investigation on several allegations over drug peddling in the area.

The attackers also stabbed SI Shahidullah, leaving him injured. He was taken to Pabna General Hospital.

Later, the police officer filed a case in this connection, the OC said, adding that police are trying to arrest all the accused.
