Police arrest 8 of a gang known to cut house grilles to break in

Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police today arrested eight members of a gang known to cut house grilles from Dhaka city and adjoining Keraniganj.

The arrestees are Russel, Shipon Mridha, Al Amin, Matiur Rahman alias Mehedi Hasan, Nasir Sheikh, Deen Islam, Amir Hossain alias Bepari and Ilias Mia.

A DB team carried out drives in different areas of Kotwali, Hazaribagh and Kamrangirchar in the capital and Keraniganj and made the arrests, said Madhusudan Das, assistant commissioner DB's Lalbagh Division.

The arrestees first recce houses left by residents during Eid holidays before stealing valuables. They also steal motorcycles from garages, said the DB official.

There are cases of theft, snatching, extortion, fraud, drugs, rape and murder against the arrestees in several police stations of DMP including Keraniganj Police Station in Dhaka, Bandar Police Station in Narayanganj, Louhjong in Munshiganj, Jajira in Shariatpur and Indurkani in Pirojpur.
