Pistols, bullets, Chinese axes recovered in Bagerhat

Police have recovered three pistols, 12 rounds of bullets and two Chinese axes from a house in Bagerhat town.
KM Ariful Haque, superintendent of Bagerhat police, confirmed the development at a press briefing at his office this afternoon, reports our Bagerhat correspondent.
The SP said acting on a tip-off, police earlier arrested two criminals -- Manik Hawlader (30) and Rubel Sardar (40) -- from in front of the district election officer's office on October 28.
Based on information given by the two arrestees, police recovered the pistols, bullets, Chinese axes and an iron rod from the rented house of another alleged criminal, Mahfuz Qazi, in Dakhkhin Sarui Alia area of the district town yesterday, he said.
The two arrestees were produced before court this afternoon after a case was filed against them under the Arms Act, said the SP, adding that the court later sent them to jail.
Police continued their drive to nab Mahfuz Qazi and others involved with the weapons, added the police official.
