Photographer stabbed to death in Cox’s Bazar
A professional tourist photographer was stabbed to death in Kolatali area of Cox's Bazar town today.
Mohammad Yousuf, 20, was killed presumably over a previous enmity, said Nazmul Huda, inspector (investigation) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station.
Meanwhile, two policemen were injured in an attack carried out by locals trying to snatch away Md Sohel, 25, who was arrested following the murder.
The injured policemen are Amir Hossain Rana, 25, and Saidul Islam, 26, of Cox's Bazar District Police Lines.
Inspector Huda said the incident took place around 4:30pm this afternoon.
He said Yousuf had an argument with Sohel a few days ago over a trivial matter.
"This afternoon, when Yousuf went to the Chandrima field area, a group of people led by Sohel attacked Yousuf with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured," Huda said.
Later, locals rescued him and took him to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
On information, police rushed to the spot and arrested Sohel.
During that time, locals tried to snatch the arrestee, triggering a clash between police and locals during which the two policemen sustained injuries, the inspector said.
The injured policemen were admitted to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
