Nazmul Huda Bir Bikram murder: Case filed after 48 years
Forty-eight years after the murder of Col Khondkar Nazmul Huda Bir Bikram, his daughter Naheed Izaher Khan yesterday filed a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka over the killing.
In the case, Maj (retd) Abdul Jalil of the 10th East Bengal Regiment was made accused.
Naheed also claimed that the killing was carried out as per BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's instruction.
In the case, Naheed mentioned that she and her elder brother were only 5 and 8 years old respectively when their father was killed by members of the Bangladesh Army on the premises of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka on November 7, 1975.
Naheed also called upon the government to conduct an investigation into the murder.
Col Huda joined the Liberation War on March 26, 1971, and directly participated in it as the Boyra sub-sector commander of Sector-8 Jashore. He led the famous tank battle of Garibpur, in which the Pakistan Army was defeated, and Jashore was liberated as the first district of Bangladesh under his leadership on December 6.
