Baraigram upazila chairman murder: Municipality mayor, 43 others named in charge sheet
Police today submitted a charge sheet accusing 44 people including KM Zakir Hossain, mayor of Banpara municipality in Natore, in the case filed for the murder of Baraigram upazila chairman Sanaullah Noor Babu.
The charge sheet was placed before the court of Baraigram Senior Judicial Magistrate Tanjim Alam Tabassum this noon, reports our local correspondent.
Criminal Investigation Department's Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Abdul Hai Sarker, also investigation officer of the case, confirmed the news and said, "The investigation took a long time because we investigated the case thoroughly. All actual accused were charge sheeted in the case."
The charge sheet has been submitted today around 11 years after the murder. Sanaullah Babu, who was also a BNP leader, was beaten to death allegedly by Awami League activists in Bonpara bazar on October 8, 2010.
Apart from mayor Zakir Hossain, his brother Zinnah, brother-in-law Abdur Razzak, Majhgram Union Parishad's former chairman Khokon Mollah were made accused in the charge sheet.
Sanaullah Babu's wife Mohua Noor Kochi filed the murder case. She said, "I am happy as all accused mentioned in the case statement have been charged."
Mayor Zakir Hossain, the prime accused, said, Sanaullah Babu was killed following internal conflict of BNP. "We will take step after receiving the copy of the charge sheet," he said.
