Murder suspect ‘tortured’ in remand: medical report shows signs of injury

A health checkup report has mentioned signs of injury on a woman -- a murder case accused -- as she alleged torture and sexual harassment while in remand in Barishal.

The Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital doctors' report mentioned that the woman had injury marks on several parts of her body, reports our Barishal correspondent.

"A copy of the report was submitted to the court yesterday as per its order," said SBMCH Director Dr HM Saiful Islam.

Meanwhile, police formed an inquiry committee over the matter and filed a case today, as per the court's order. It will submit its findings within three days, said Barishal Superintendent of Police Md Maruf Hasan Khan.

Earlier, after hearing the woman's allegation on Friday, Barishal Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman directed for a health checkup of the woman and asked the SBMCH director to submit a report within 24 hours.

At the same time, the judge directed the SP to file a case in this regard, confirmed Nahida Khanam, bench officer of the court.
