Man seeks permission to file sedition case against Nur in Noakhali
A man submitted an application to Noakhali police today seeking permission to file a sedition case against Nurul Haque Nur, member secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad.
Safayet Hossain, president of Bangladesh Muktijuddho Mancha's Noakhali district unit, submitted the application at Sudharam Model Police Station today, our Noakhali correspondent reports quoting Md Anwarul Islam, officer-in-charge of the station.
In the application, the plaintiff mentioned that Nurul Haque Nur and his political party Bangladesh Gono Odhikar Parishad are involved in a conspiracy to overthrow the legitimate government by inciting its leaders and activists and creating hatred within the state.
By doing so, Nur has committed a seditious offence under Sections 124 (a), 120 (a), and 506 of the Penal Code, according to the application.
Safayet Hossain told The Daily Star, "Nurul Haque Nur is hatching a conspiracy to topple the Awami League government. That is why I have submitted an application seeking permission to file a sedition case against him."
OC Anwarul said they have received the application. The next course of action will be taken after the investigation, he added.
