Man killed for protesting daughter’s sexual harassment in Jamalpur

A man was beaten to death allegedly by his neighbours for protesting the sexual harassment of his daughter in Jamalpur's Melandah upazila this afternoon.
The daughter of the deceased was subjected to verbal abuse by one Abdullah, son of Kashed, on her way to school this afternoon, Delawor Hossain, officer-in-charge of Melandah Police Station, said quoting locals.
The girl's father went to Kashed's house immediately after hearing about the harassment, following which they got into an argument, said the OC.
At one stage, Kashed hit the girl's father with a rod, leaving him critically injured.
The injured was taken to Melandah Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead, the police official said.
Two relatives of the deceased were also admitted to the same hospital with serious injuries as they were also attacked by Kashed and his family members during the incident.
The victim's wife filed a murder case against five people with Melandah Police Station.
The OC also said they have already arrested three accused, Kashed, 45, his wife Parveen Begum, 30, and his friend Belayet Hossain, 40, from the spot but the harasser Abdullah went into hiding following the incident.
