Man injured in explosion while making bombs dies

A man, who was injured when a bomb he was allegedly making exploded in his house in Shariatpur's Zajira upazila on December 21, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital today.

The deceased was identified as Imran Khalasi, 26, son of Shamsu Khalasi of Charkandi village in Zajira upazila, said Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Zajira Police Station.

Imran died this noon while undergoing treatment at the DMCH, the OC told our Shariatpur correspondent tonight.

On December 21, Imran suffered injuries when a bomb he was making exploded inside his house, the OC said, adding that the tin roof of the house was blown away.

Later, his family members admitted him to the DMCH, where he died today, the OC said.

He also said Zajira police recovered some bomb-making equipment from the spot on the day of the incident and filed a case under the Explosive Substances Act in this connection.

"We are investigating if anyone else is involved in the incident. Legal action will be taken in this regard after investigation," added the police official.
