Man gets life in prison for raping 13-yr-old

A man was sentenced to life in prison today for raping a 13-year-old girl in Faridpur back in 2020.

Md Harun Sheikh, 33, was also fined Tk 1 lakh, said Public Prosecutor Swapan Paul.

Md Hafizur Rahman, judge of the district's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, delivered the verdict in the presence of the convict, he added.

According to the case statement, Harun raped the girl in Paturia village of Alfadanga upazila on November 26, 2020.

He also recorded the crime on his mobile phone and threatened to spread the video online if she disclosed the matter to anybody.

But the girl told her mother, who then filed a rape case with Alfadanga Police Station a few days later.

On June 28, 2021, Sub-inspector Md Mizanur Rahman submitted the charge sheet in the case.

After examining witnesses and evidence, the court found Harun guilty of the charges.
