Man dies after being ‘pushed off’ moving bus in Gabtoli

A 45-year-old man reportedly died after being pushed off a moving bus in Dhaka's Gabtoli area today (November 9, 2022).

The deceased was identified as Ekhlas, manager of Matin Paribahan.

Darussalam Police Station Officer-in-charge Sheikh Aminul Bashar told The Daily Star that he was informed about the death and is now trying to collect details about the incident.

The incident took place around 12:00pm. Ekhlas was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 5:15pm.

Three people were detained in connection with the incident, OC Aminul said.

Parveen, wife of Ekhlas, said that Ekhlas locked into an argument with staff of another bus, which was bound for Pabna, at Gabtoli bus terminal. "We came to know that he was pushed off that bus. He suffered injury in his head and was taken to Neuroscience Hospital," she said.

Later he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Abdur Rab, colleague of Ekhlas, said that he heard about the quarrel between Ekhlas and the staff of another Pabna bound bus. Later he came to know that Ekhlas suffered injuries. But it was not clear whether he was pushed off the bus or he fell from the bus.
