Man arrested under DSA over “insulting PM on Facebook live for fuel price hike”
Detective Branch of Police arrested a man from Gangni upazila of Meherpur (August 10, 2022) in a case filed under the Digital Security Act for insulting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Facebook live.
The arrestee Abu Taleb, also a BNP activist was rude to the PM for the hike in fuel prices, according to DB, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Razzak said the arrestee was produced before a Meherpur court this afternoon and was sent to jail.
Abu Taleb, who hails from Garabaria village of the upazila, went live using his Facebook ID on Saturday night and used abusive language against the prime minister, said OC of Detective Branch of Police in Gangni Saiful Alam.
After the video went viral on social media, raids were conducted in Jashore, Chuadanga and Meherpur districts for two days to arrest him, said the OC.
He was arrested from Sahgalpur of Gangni upazila around 9:00pm yesterday, he said.
A Chhatra League leader named Anisuzzaman filed a case with Gangni Police Station last night.
