Man arrested for threatening people with firearms in Uttara
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested a man from Dhaka's Uttara Sector-7, on charge of threatening people with firearms.
The accused, Majbah Uddin Sarker Robel (44), was arrested with one pistol, two magazines, 50 rounds of bullets, one pistol box, two pistol covers, one pistol license, and two mobile phones, a Rab press release said today.
Robel uploaded photos and videos on his Facebook account where he was seen roaming around the streets of Uttara with armed bodyguards -- intimidating people with firearms, which the cyber monitoring team of Rab-1 noticed during its online surveillance, it read.
"During primary interrogation, Robel said he had hired three armed bodyguards. Among them, he said one has a firearm license. However, Rab suspects, none of his bodyguards have firearm licenses," Assistant Director ANM Imran Khan of Rab-1 Legal and Media Wing, told The Daily Star today.
Robel along with his bodyguard Faruk (45) and two others tried to establish dominance in different areas, including Uttara West Thana and Tongi, read the release.
Legal action was being taken against him, according to a press release.
