Man arrested with gold bars, ornaments at Dhaka airport
Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested a man with six gold bars -- weighing 696 grams --and some gold ornaments-- weighing 296 grams --at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today (November 4, 2022).
The detainee was identified as Hossain Mahmood, 29, of Baroia village under Dagarbhuiyan upazila in Feni, Mohammad Ziaul Haque, additional superintendent of APBn, told The Daily Star.
Acting on a tip-off, an intelligence team of the Airport Armed Police detained Mahmood from the parking area of the airport this noon, he said.
Later, the police team recovered the gold bars worth Tk 49 lakh and the gold jewelleries worth Tk 20 lakh from his procession.
Three laptops and 2 iPhones were also recovered from his possession, he added.
A case was filed against him with Airport Police Station in this regard, said the police official.
