Mahdi loosened nuts and bolts of Padma Bridge with wrench before filming video: CTTC chief

One of the youths who were seen removing nuts and bolts from the railing of Padma Bridge had used a wrench to loosen them.

Md Asaduzzaman, chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit, said this today (June 30, 2022) after police arrested Mahdi Hasan (27) from Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur district yesterday.

"Though in primary interrogation, he (Mahdi) did not admit to using wrench, we are informing you that he loosened the nuts and bolts with a wrench and then used his hands to finally remove them while making the video," the CTTC chief told reporters in a press briefing at DMP media centre.

He said that Mahdi and some of his accomplices planned it the previous night, knowing Padma Bridge was set to open to traffic on June 26 morning.
