A Chattogram court today sentenced a superintendent of madrasa to life term imprisonment in Satkania upazila for raping an assistant teacher in 2016.

The court also fined the convict Tk 50,000.

The convict is Nizam Uddin, superintendent of Ummul Khura Dakhil Madrasa in Dhemsha area in the upazila, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports.

Judge of Chattogram Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 Zamiul Haidar passed the order around noon, said the court's Public Prosecutor Nikhil Kumar Nath.

According to the prosecution, Nizam Uddin called the teacher at his office room after the class around 4pm on January 3, 2016. He then raped her in his office and threatened her not to disclose the matter.

The following day, the victim filed a case with Satkania Police Station against Nizam Uddin.

Police submitted the charge sheet on February 19, 2018. The court delivered the verdict after six witnesses testified before the judge, said the PP.
