On information, a police team rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
The agitated people also clashed with police as law enforcers tried to disperse the attackers and rescue the minor -- leaving three policemen injured.
Mohammad Golam Azad Khan, superintendent of Manikganj Police, said policemen went to the spot in the morning after receiving information of the incident.
"Locals clashed with policemen when they tried to save the minor accused of killing Raju and his family members. Three of our men were injured,", said the SP.
The alleged killer and three members of his family were arrested and brought to the police station this noon, he said.
The process to take legal action against them is underway, added the SP.
According to the deceased's family, Raju was taken by his 16-year-old friend to the bank of Kaliganga river in Ruparchar area under Dhaka's Nawabganj upazila on Thursday.
The boy allegedly hit Raju's head with a brick, leaving him injured.
On information, family members rescued Raju at night and took him to local Sahrail Ibrahim Memorial Hospital from where he was later shifted to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital as his condition was critical.

Witnesses further said, when the news of Raju's death spread in the area, his relatives and locals besieged the house of the alleged killer this morning.
