Kazakhstani citizen murdered in Rooppur Power Plant area

A Kazakhstani citizen was stabbed to death in Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant area of Pabna's Ishwardi upazila last night.

Vladimes Shvets (50), store man of the construction firm Nikimit, was killed in Green City residential area under the project site, our Pabna correspondent reports quoting Officer-in -charge of Ishwardi Police Station Md Asaduzzaman.

Police detained three Belarus citizens working in the project in connection with the murder, the official added.

Vladimes' body was recovered and sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy today.

Contacted, Additional Superintendent of Police in Pabna Md Masud Alam, said the reason behind the murder could not be known yet. "We are investigating the incident," he said.

"The three Belarus nationals, who were picked up for investigation, used to live with the victim in the residential area," the additional SP said.

"A case will be filed over the incident," he added.

Ruhul Kuddus, in-charge of the site, said, "Work of the project is going on as usually."

"This is an unexpected incident. We don't know what really happened. Police are investigating the incident," he said.

There are more than 4,000 foreign citizens working in Rooppur power plant project.
