Idol of Hindu goddess vandalised in Bogura

An idol of Hindu Goddess Kali was vandalised by unidentified criminals at a temple in Bogura's Dhunat upazila last night.

Criminals vandalised the idol and took its head, reports our local correspondent quoting temple authority.

The incident took place at Sultanhata Kali temple under the Kalerpara union of the upazila last night, said Poresh Chandra Shil, president of the temple committee.

"The temple is very old and locals have been worshipping the Goddess Kali here for long. Today around 9am, a worshiper was passing by the temple and noticed the vandalism," he said.

"For many decades, we have lived in communal harmony. We couldn't believe it could happen in our own village," he added.

Kripa Sindhubala, officer-in-charge of the Dhunat Police Station, said, "We are trying to identify the criminals involved. We will take action against them."
