Homemaker strangled to death in Natore

A homemaker has been strangled to death at Bilharibari village of the upazila on yesterday morning.

The deceased was identified as Subarna Khatun, 18, daughter of Mohammad Hafizur Rahman of Kundail village in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj and wife of Sagar Ali, son of Mohammad Jamal Mollah of Bilharibari area.

Md Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Gurudaspur Police Station, said locals found the body and informed the police.

The police found marks of injuries on various parts of the body while recovering it. The body was sent to the morgue of Natore Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Hafizur Rahman, father of Subarna, said, "My daughter got married to Sagar Ali two years ago. Since the marriage, her husband and her in-laws have been torturing her in various ways."

Even a few days ago, Subarna did not want to go to her husband's house, he said, adding that on Wednesday morning, he was informed that his daughter had been killed.

Hafizur said he saw blood stains on right shoulder of the body and there were signs of serious injuries on her neck. He alleged that his daughter was strangled to death Sagar and his family members.

The in-laws have been on the run since the incident.
