Himu murder: HC confirms death for 3
The High Court yesterday confirmed the death sentence of three convicts and acquitted two others in the case filed for killing A-level student Himadri Majumder Himu in Chattogram in 2012.
On April 27, 2012, Himu, a student of Summerfield School and College in Chattogram, was taken forcibly to the rooftop of a four-storey building in Panchlaish Residential Area.
He was severely beaten there and at one stage, the convicts unleashed three dogs upon him.
Later, he was pushed off the building, according to the case documents.
While undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), the victim described how he was tortured.
Himu breathed his last at the Square Hospitals in the capital on May 23, 2012.
Yesterday, the HC upheld the death sentence of Jahedul Islam Shaon, Mahboob Ali Khan Danny and Junaid Ahmed Riad in the case.
The two acquitted accused are Shah Selim Tipu and Md Shahadat Hossain Saju.
The HC bench of Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman delivered the verdict.
Details of the grounds on which the HC delivered the judgement could not be known as its full text was not released yet.
Danny, Tipu and Saju are now in the jail, while Shaon and Riad are on the run.
