Helena Jahangir gets bail in narcotics and fraud cases
A Dhaka court today granted bail to Helena Jahangir, a businessperson turned politician, in narcotics and fraud cases filed with Gulshan and Pallabi police stations in the capital.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the orders, following two separate petitions submitted by the defense lawyers, court sources said.
The judge also rejected the bail petition of another case filed with Gulshan Police Station under the Digital Security Act.
Helena, however, cannot walk out of jail as she is yet to get bail in the DSA case.
On August 17, another Dhaka court granted bail to Helena Jahangir in a case filed under the Telecommunications Act filed with Pallabi Police Station.
The law enforcers arrested her during a raid at her Gulshan residence on July 29.
Later, four cases were filed against her under different acts.
