Helana Jahangir denied bail in fraud case
A Dhaka court today rejected a bail petition of Helana Jahangir, a businessperson turned politician, in a fraud case filed with Dhaka's Pallabi Police Station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jashim passed the order after her lawyer moved a petition, seeking bail in the case.
In the case, it was alleged that Helena took Tk 54,000 from one Abdur Rahman of Bhola district for appointing him as a local correspondent of Joyjatra TV. As a correspondent Rahman worked for several months but was not given any salary. On the other hand, the television authority took Tk 3,000 per month from him.
On August 2, Abdur Rahman filed the case against Helena Jahangir, her two associates Hajera Khatun and Sanaullah Nuri with Pallabi Police Station in this regard.
Yesterday, the same court granted her bail in another case filed with the same police station under the Telecommunications Control Act.
