HC issues rule on compensating family of boy dead in Azimpur wall collapse

The High Court today issued a rule asking the authorities concerned of the government to explain in four weeks why they should not be directed to give Tk 1 crore compensation to the family of seven-year-old Zihad Hossain, who died after a wall collapsed on him in Dhaka's Azimpur area on November 11.

The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman issued the rule following a writ petition filed by rights organisation Ain-Odhikar (BD) Foundation and Zihad's father Nazir Hossain seeking necessary directives for compensation.

Lawyer Manir Hossain Hawlader appeared for the petitioners while Deputy Attorney General Bepul Bagmar represented the state.
