Govt job question papers leak: Upazila vice-chairman among 10 arrested
Detectives arrested 10 persons, including a female upazila vice-chairman, for their alleged involvement in leaking questions and cheating with digital devices in a government recruitment test held yesterday.
Several teams of detectives arrested them from different areas in the city along with six digital devices, three leaked question papers, some smart phones, AKM Hafiz Akhter, additional commissioner (detectives) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told a press briefing at DMP media centre today.
Of the arrestees, Mahbuba Nasrin Rupa is the vice-chairman of Dupchachia upazila in Bogura while Mahmudul Hasan Azad is a suspended officer of Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh, detectives said.
Apart from collecting clients, Mahbuba also took part in the yesterday's examination of Office of Controller General Defence Finance, Hafiz said.
This gang leaked questions soon after test began at 3:00pm yesterday. They were providing answers to their clients through the digital devices, the DB official said.
The other arrestees includes examinees of the test, students who have expertise in solving questions, Hafiz said.
They are: Noman Siddique, Al Amin Rony, Nahid Hasan, Shahid Ullah, Tanjir Ahmed, Razu Ahmed, Hasibul Hasan and Rakibul Hasan.
The gang made an agreement with their clients of Tk 14 to 16 lakh for providing a job through the fraudulent activities. They took a small amount first for helping them in passing yesterday's multiple-choice questions (MCQ) test and would take the rest during viva and after joining the job, Hafiz said.
As the test started at 3:00pm, they collected the questions and sent to their one-stop centre where they solved those and provided answers through the devices.
The devices looks like a regular ATM card which works like a mobile phone and a tiny wireless ball-like earphone sets one up for two-way communication. These devices along with watch and mobile phones were used to cheat in tests.
Replying to a query, the DB officials said they will shared their findings and information with the concerned authorities who will decided about the fate of the yesterday' test.
