Former owners of E-orange shown arrested in 2 fraud cases

Former owners of e-commerce platform E-orange -- Sonia Mehjabin and her husband Masukur Rahman -- and two others were shown arrested today in two fraud cases filed with Gulshan Police Station.

The others are: Chief Executive Officer Md Amanullah Chowdhury and former Chief Operating Officer Md Nazmul Alam Russel.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Abu Bakar Siddiqui passed the order after Md Abdul Hakim, a sub-inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and also the investigation officer of the cases, submitted two separate petitions in this regard.

Mukul Anwar, a resident of Gulshan Police Station and also a customer of E-orange, filed one of the cases against Masukur, Sonia and five others on November 24 last year on charges of embezzlement of Tk 6.6 lakh.

Anwar Islam of Gaibandha, a customer of E-orange, filed the other case with the same police station against the same accused on November 25 last year on charges of embezzlement of Tk 10.70 lakh.

On August 17 last year, Sonia and Masukur were sent to jail after the couple surrendered before a Dhaka court, seeking bail in the case while Amanullah was arrested on August 18 the same year from the capital's Gulshan area.

And police on August 28 arrested Nazmul from the capital's Gulshan area.
