Former outlawed party man shot dead
A former outlawed party operative was shot dead allegedly by rivals in Pabna's Atghoria upazila yesterday afternoon.
The victim, Musa Khan, 35, of Chachkiar Diarpara village, was an activist of a faction of banned Purbo Banglar Sarbahara Party. He, along with other outlaws, surrendered to the police in 2019.
Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Atghoria Police Station, said Musa was playing carrom at a tea stall in Ekdanta area. Suddenly, a group of armed criminals attacked him and opened fire around 5:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said.
Police said rivals might have killed him over previous enmity.
Talking to The Daily Star, Masud Alom, additional superintendent of Pabna police, said Musa was leading a normal life after his surrender.
"After the incident, police started raiding the area. We are investigating it."
The body was sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
